Mission & Vision

The Bay Area College Success Network (CSN) brings together San Francisco Bay Area organizations and institutions that work to broaden college access and success for underserved student populations, especially low-income and aspiring first-generation college students.

Established as the College Bound Network in 2004, the CSN aims to help members:

  • Share information on best practices and innovative approaches to providing services to our target populations

  • Engage in substantive dialogue around regional, state, and federal policy issues that impact the work of member organizations to lay the groundwork for collaborative activities that may include advocacy, public awareness, and legislative lobbying.

  • Work collaboratively on projects that enhance our shared programmatic goals

Eric Guico: Events Committee Lead

Hello everyone. Eric Bernardo Guico here, he/him/his pronouns. I am the proud son of immigrants from the Philippines and a first gen college graduate. I’m grateful for my work at First Graduate since I get to work with a passionate, fun team supporting inspiring young people that keep me young and hopeful.

The CSN was a great launching point for my career when I was a young professional and I’m happy to give back to this network. When I’m not working I enjoy martial arts, going for walks in parks, playing video games, and spending time with my wife and friends.

Jamie So: Co-Chair & Communications Committee Co-Lead

Hi, I’m Jamie (he/him) and I’m an Associate Manager at Oakland Promise’s College Completion Team. I was born and raised in Oakland CA. My family survived the Cambodian genocide and fled to the US as refugees where I had the privilege to pursue and become the first college graduate in our family. I’ve been involved in the Non-Profit and College Access and Success space in Oakland for 5+ years. I started my earlier years as a Youth Organizer and a Personal Training. Health Coach. When I’m not supporting students to get through college I’m walking my German Shepard, lifting weights, doing Muay Thai, jogging, and hiking with my cat. I love food festivals, music festivals, and trying different breweries.

The CSN gave me the opportunity to develop my self-confidence earlier in my career and has connected me to wonderful people who care for the future of society. I’m excited to continue helping others develop in their career and meet other like minded people in our small community.
